All you should know about WHCA Tennis

What does the program focus on?

The training will feature all parts of tennis. This is called Absolute Tennis Training because each session focuses on seeing the players gradually improve through ordered and designed lessons. This training is made for all types of levels. If the player is a beginner, the lessons will start from the beginner stage. If the player is intermediate or advanced the training will be adjusted accordingly.

What is the initial evaluation?

Before the start of each program there is an initial evaluation session. If after the evaluation, the player’s level isn’t the same as the training program in which they are registered, the player or parents will be advised to revise their choice.

What is the level check?

Let Zara know if you would want to participate in the monthly level evaluations. This will allow us to check the player’s level and potentially move them to a new program based on their results.

What if the player needs additional training?

Addition training will be available for juniors from the age of 4 -12. This will be a free hour, once a week, and act as a level reinstatement for the player. They will receive appropriate training to get them up to date with the level they should be at with their age group.

How to get updates?

Let Zara know if you would like updates of your training. These will be emails letting the player or parents know about the growth of the player. Those emails will let you know if the player needs more training or an upgrade.

Youth Tennis Leagues – Friday nights – 4+ years

Youth tennis leagues promote learning and getting better by playing. It is a great way to get regular exercise while having fun playing tennis without the stress of individual competition. It is a program that provides participants with the opportunity to combine practice and play, with a focus on skill development through match play.

Games are played using equipment based on age and skill level, with corresponding court sizes. The league is structured in four divisions  (1) Red Ball, ½ Court (recommended ages 6-8) (2) Orange Ball, ¾ Court (recommended ages 8-10),  (3) Green Ball, Full Court (recommended ages 10-12) and (4) Green or Regular Ball Full Court (recommended ages 12-16). Players are placed on teams and play matches against others of similar ability. Scores are kept and the results are counted towards a team’s overall score to ensure that every participant’s efforts are rewarded. All players will play singles and doubles matches in a fun weekly competition.

For juniors and new players, the league system is a great way to introduce them to competition. By competing on a team, the pressure of winning or losing becomes less for the individual. Rather, every player does his or her best to contribute to the team’s success and have fun! Prior to when competition starts, there will be at lease a full month of tennis training to get players to the level they should be at their age.

So why wait any longer? Join our youth team tennis league and experience the joy of weekly matches all without the travel.
