Coaching Staff

Donella Swan oversees the planning, program delivery, communications and marketing for all Learn to Skate Programs here at WHCA. Previously a Provincial Champion, Donella wishes to continue her own skating while passing her knowledge and passion of the sport to up and coming skaters. She is a certified NCCP STARSkate and PowerSkate Coach through Skate Canada. Donella is an MRU graduate with a Bachelor of Communications degree, majoring in Journalism and works full time in Corporate Communications. Jaclyn Holmes is responsible for activity planning and development for the STARSkate programs, both on and off the ice. She is a Triple Gold Test Skater and holds her NCCP StarSkate certification and comes to us with a dance background in contemporary, ballet and jazz disciplines. She is also working towards her AFLCA fitness instructor certification in Ballet Barre. Jaclyn is a U of C graduate with a Bachelors of Nursing Degree, currently working for AHS.

For most of Craig’s life he has been an athlete in the sport of figure skating, advancing from an amateur athlete to the professional performance side over the course of more than twenty-five years. This development has allowed him to travel the world and earn a living simultaneously. The physical education he has received through these experiences has brought him great joy, because he has been able to meet many great people and develop many great friendships. Craig has completed his gold free skate and senior competitive test. He has also had the chance to work with top level coaches in North America during his amateur career.

Kevin grew up training in Calgary and has an extensive background in figure skating as a former Alberta Provincial Champion and competitor. He trained seasonally in the U.S. with international and world-class coaches and competitors where he gathered a great deal of valuable knowledge for the sport. Kevin is a certified NCCP Intermediate STARSkate and Provincial Coach and volunteers his time for the International Skating Union as Assistant Co-ordinator and Chief Announcer for international competitive events. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from the Haskayne School of Business, U of C and currently works professionally as an oil and gas accountant.

Sara has been skating for a large portion of her life and continues to train in freeskate. She is a Triple Gold Test Skater and as an NCCP Coach in training, she hopes to pass on everything she's learned in the sport to our skaters. Currently, she is attending the University of Calgary and is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience.

Kristin comes to us from Ontario with nearly a decade of coaching experience. An NCCP Coach in Training, Kristen brings experience as a competitive synchronized skater, and is looking forward to training our STARSkaters in our Synchronized Skating sessions. Kristin has a Marketing degree, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on children with exceptionalities, child development, and child behavior from Western University.
